Overview

Update: We are not sure but it appears Imeron Technology no longer exists.  We have been unable to find out if someone is still producing but it appears that the chair is still available in several countries.

Let me get right into answering the question in many peoples minds when I talk about the chair.  That is what’s an Intensor LX? Well, its a gaming chair like no other developed by Imeron Technology (http://www.imeron.com) (formerly BSG Labs) Its not simply a comfortable chair for sitting in, in fact while it is comfortable, there are many more comfortable chairs to just sit in. No…the Intersor LX is a tactile feedback device that uses a patented audio system that includes a specially designed four channel amplifier, five built-in-speakers - a full range driver between your legs, left and right midrange drivers on either side of your legs to provide directional cues, a woofer behind your back to provide the tactile feedback and a tweeter behind your head which according to Imeron provides a unique sense of "spaciality".     The tactile effects are cued by sounds with lots of bass. All of this sits on a five-caster base with hydraulic height adjustment and a tilt adjustment.

The 80 watt amplifier plugs into your sound source which is of course not limited to sound cards.  Imeron notes that the Intensor works with any PC, console game or home entertainment system.   When using it with a sound card it can either replace your regular speaker system or supplement it by using a dual headphone adapter (not supplied) or by setting your four speaker sound card to two speaker mode and plugging a 2 speaker system into one jack and the provided stereo mini-jack to RCA cable into the other which then connects to the Intensor Power Unit. The Intensor Power Unit then connects to the chair via another 9 cable which comes with the unit. The chair itself has a headphone jack as well as a volume control and tactile level control.

I agreed to review the Intensor LX with some trepidation as we focus on 3D sound and had my doubts about the impact of the chair on positional audio. However, Imeron assured me that with the new headphone jack on the chair 3d gaming in headphone mode would be a blast.

In this review we will look at the installation, configuration and performance of the chair to see whether or not it really is a gaming device for 3d audio fans.

So on to the installation and performance tests
