Boston Acoustics Introduces New Boston Rally Series Component Speakers

Rally Series Delivers Hi-Fidelity Sound with Eye-Catching Industrial Design

PEABODY, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 1, 2000--Boston Acoustics Inc. (Nasdaq: BOSA) today introduced the New Boston Rally®series car component speakers. Following in the footsteps of the award-winning Boston ProSeries components, these technically innovative new models truly redefine the price/performance relationship for premium automotive speakers.

There are 3 two-way systems in this new series: The RC620 features a 6.5`` woofer, while the RC520 and RC420 feature a 5'' and 4`` woofer respectively. All the systems are equipped with three different tweeter mounting kits for maximum installation flexibility. In addition, a system-specific crossover, housed in a stylish translucent enclosure, perfectly blends the drivers together to provide smooth, seamless performance.

These new models are also an easy fit into a large range of factory speaker locations in many cars and trucks. They can be installed behind existing factory panels or surface mounted, using the supplied grilles for a more `custom' look.

Unique System Upgrade

To upgrade the system further, an optional Neo3r ambient Tweeter System may be added. This system is designed to further improve the imaging and sound stage by raising up the apparent soundstage from its normal low level (due to the usual door panel or floor placement of the system) to a higher, more natural sonic presentation.

Product Technology Highlights

The New Boston Rally woofers utilize a center-mounted aluminum ``AMD'' (Amplitude Modification Device) that acts as a heat sink to draw heat away from the woofer's motor assembly to aid high power handling and enhance reliability. This device also improves performance by delivering a smooth, flat frequency response over the entire audible range of the driver. The tweeter in all three models is Boston's exclusive 1`` Kortec(TM) soft dome model. This advanced design provides an extremely smooth response, high power handling and exceptional reliability. Rather than using a generic crossover design for all three models, each system-specific crossover is perfectly matched to each set of components to provide the smoothest possible crossover curve to blend the components together seamlessly. A plug-in module can be added to this crossover to facilitate the optional tweeter system upgrade.

Pricing and Availability

The RC620 and RC520 have an MSRP of $299 per pair. The RC420 has an MSRP of $279 per pair. These products will ship in June 2000.

Distribution

The Boston Rally series are sold exclusively through Boston's authorized specialty retailers. For more information please visit Boston Acoustics at www.bostonacoustics.com or call 978-538-5000.
