CyON MP3 is World's First Integrated Cell Phone-MP3 Player

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2000--LG Information and Communications has introduced the world's first integrated cell phone-MP3 Internet music player that uses the SanDisk flash memory MultiMediaCard to store audio and data. The device is called the CyON MP3, LG-P810. A stamp-sized SanDisk 16 megabyte (MB) or 32MB MultiMediaCard will be bundled with each device sold.

The innovative CyON is compatible with most digital audio players, because it uses the standard MultiMediaCard and MP3 formats. Users can interchangeably use their MultiMediaCards from their MP3 players with the CyON and either play pre-recorded songs or download music directly to their phone.

Nelson Chan, SanDisk senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said, ``Introduction of the CyON MP3 is a major endorsement of the removable MultiMediaCard as a storage standard for the cell phone and Internet player markets. We believe that in the future, most cell phones will have the capability to play digital audio and will require a memory card slot for added device capability. SanDisk co-invented the MultiMediaCard and currently is the world's largest supplier of the flash memory card.''

The user-friendly phone has an LCD remote control and a simple one-touch button that activates the audio player. Using CyON's LCD remote, which is attached to the earphones, users can make calls, check call lists and listen to music. In addition, CyON's charger has a built in mini-audio component that can play music or the radio while the phone is recharging.

Currently, the CyON MP3 is available only in Korea. It has not been determined when the device will be available in other parts of the world.
