| New line of CD and cassette receivers offers high power, user-friendly design and dramatic new styling, with CD-R/RW compatibility for all CD units. |
| MAHWAH, NJ, January 6, 2000
Reaffirming its commitment to the car audio market, AIWA today introduced a new line of CD
receivers, cassette receivers and CD changers that sets a new benchmark for value. Among
the line's highlights is a CD receiver able to play discs containing MP3-encoded material.
In head units, AIWA has raised power output throughout the line, added a Smart Jog control to every unit for ease-of-use, added more convenience features to each model and introduced dramatic new styling with cobalt blue illumination. In addition, all AIWA car audio CD players in-dash and changers are CD-R/RW compatible, and every in-dash model includes a front panel auxiliary input, which makes it easy to listen to MP3 players, MD players and other external sources through the car sound system. Also for 2000, AIWA continues with its installer-friendly orientation, featuring matching wire harnesses, interchangeable sleeves, internal fuses and noise filters and recessed RCA and antenna inputs. "Over the last two years AIWA has shown that we can field a very competitive car audio line," said Akio Imanishi, AIWA AMERICA Senior Vice President, Marketing. "For 2000 we will offer our strongest line yet, and we think that dealers and consumers alike will recognize the extraordinary value the line delivers." In convenience features, every AIWA in-dash model offers Smart Jog, Source Level Adjustment, Advanced H-Bass and My Information. Smart Jog is a rotary dial that performs multiple functions, allowing a less cluttered faceplate. Source Level Adjustment, a new feature, allows the user to easily match output levels among the tuner bands and CD or cassette so that the volume doesn't vary when switching from source to source. Advanced H-Bass is a sophisticated bass enhancement circuit that improves low frequency performance without affecting mid or high frequencies. It provides three levels to suit musical types, volume levels and personal preference. My Information allows a user to choose a favorite daily radio broadcast to automatically come on every day at the appointed time even if a CD or cassette is playing, or even if the unit is turned off. Other features found on selected models include Advanced Driver's Sound Stage Adjustment (DSSA), which at the push of a button adjusts fade and balance for ideal stereo imaging at the driver's seat. Most models feature a detachable front panel, with higher-end units offering full flap type detachable front panels where the panel flips down to reveal the CD or cassette slot, a design that allows front panel displays to be larger so that they're easier to read and can offer more information. In CD receivers, AIWA's most innovative new model is the CDC-MP3, equipped with a CD player able to play MP3-encoded discs. Typically, these would be CD-R discs onto which a consumer, using a CD-R/RW recorder, has recorded MP3 files downloaded from the Internet. Other CDC-MP3 features include a power output of 45 watts X 4, full flap type detachable front panel, CD changer control, four-color LCD dot matrix display, two preamp outputs, steering wheel remote control, Advanced H-Bass, Source Level Adjustment, My Information and Advanced DSSA.
