Variety of Speaker Systems to be Featured With Micron's Newest Computer Systems

MILFORD, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 2000-- Altec Lansing Technologies, Inc. today announced a new partnership with PC maker and e-services company Micron Electronics, Inc., in which Altec Lansing will bundle its newest computer speaker systems with micronpc.com computers. Select micronpc.com Millennia® Series computer systems will now be accompanied by Altec Lansing award-winning computer speaker systems including ACS21MW, ACS33MW, ATP3W and the ACS56MW. Consumers will have a variety of upgrade opportunities based on audio desires and functioning for their PC. These audio systems are ideal for any home, small office/home office or corporate PC applications. The complete systems will be available in the United States.

``Altec Lansing is proud to partner with micronpc.com in bundling these exciting new peripherals which truly take advantage of present-day PC technology,'' said Edward Anchel, president and CEO of Altec Lansing Technologies, Inc. ``All of the speakers available through micronpc.com will provide consumers with a variety of high-quality, two-, three- and five-piece high fidelity solutions that enhance users' overall computing experiences.''

``This is a teaming of two winners,'' said Jeffrey K. Moeser, Senior Vice President of Product Development for Micronpc.com. ``We're pleased to be able to add Altec Lansing's award-winning speakers to Micronpc.com's award-winning computers, and to offer our customers greater choice.''

The speakers that will be available through this new partnership include the ACS21MW, ACS33MW, ATP3MW and ACS56MW.

The ATP3MW, a stylish new 3-piece system with a thin profile design, breaks the mold of the conventional speaker with its slim, contemporary lines. This audio system has a total 25 watts of power and includes two satellites and a subwoofer uniting the new sophisticated design with powerful high-quality performance. Exclusive microdriver technology is embedded into each satellite providing superior sound quality in this slim speaker system.

The ACS56MW includes four satellites and a wood subwoofer totaling 70 watts of gaming power. The system provides discrete four-channel surround sound output for a true multidimensional gaming experience. The ACS56MW is engineered with quad inputs for games providing rear channel output from specified 3D positional sound cards. This includes two analog inputs accommodating the 3D cards as well as an S/PDIF for PCM digital audio playback. Outside the gaming community, the system can produce four-channel simulated surround through a simple stereo connection.

The ACS33MW, a three-piece computer speaker system, gives consumers power and performance at a tremendous value with a small footprint. The system has a total 35 watts of power and includes a powered subwoofer adding realism and bass. The unified volume control adjusts the volume on both satellites as well as the subwoofer making volume adjustment easy and seamless. The ACS33MW is the perfect upgrade from any two-piece system and provides the consumer incredible three-piece audio output at a phenomenal price.

The ACS21MW is a two-piece system perfect for increasing the audio quality of any computer. It has a smaller form factor with a total 6 watts of power perfect for basic CD and gaming content. One additional benefit is the headphone jack placed on front of the satellite for easier accessibility.
