I-Jam Multimedia Introduces Latest Entry Into Digital Audio -- New Compact Disc Player for MP3, CD-R And CD-RW Media

LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 2000--I-Jam® Multimedia L.L.C., a pioneer in the digital audio arena, today introduced a portable CD player --the IJ-828 -- the latest addition to its digital audio family of products. The IJ-828 is designed to playback music from compact discs, as well as MP3 and other audio content downloaded from the Internet.

The newest portable audio solution takes advantage of the benefits of CD-R and CD-RW media and of MP3 technology, and marries them -- offering consumers a complete, compact portable solution. Targeted toward the avid music lover, the IJ-828 is a sleek device that is on the cutting-edge of technology to accommodate the variety of digital audio formats available.

``We are offering our customers a cost-effective solution to their entertainment needs,'' said Doug Marrison, President and CEO, I-Jam Multimedia.

``With the IJ-828, users can more effectively take advantage of the MP3 format. Since CD-R and CD-RW media have more storage capacity, by burning their own tunes in either format of these new digital formats, users can store and listen to hours and hours of music on one disc.''

Lots of Music To Go

Now, music enthusiasts can download as many MP3 tracks as they would like via the Internet to their computer, save them to a CD-R or a CD-RW and, with the IJ-828, take that music with them wherever they go -- without being tied to their desktop or notebook computer.

With storage capacity no longer an issue, users can listen to over 10 hours worth of music, or about 150 songs, without changing discs. This translates to huge cost savings for consumers.

The IJ-828 measures 1 x 5.5 x 6.5 inches, loads on top and is compatible with both standard and CD-R media, with music encoded in MP3 format. It uses two AA batteries for eight continuous hours of play, delivers 50mW audio output, and comes with two Line-Out and DC input jacks and car kit and/or AC-DC adapter to enable the device to be hooked up to a home or car stereo.

It has an LCD screen to display track numbers and elapsed playtime, has standard controls including stop, play, fast forward and rewind, as well as repeat and shuffle options and a 10 second digital anti-skip protection system.

Available at selected retailers early 2Q 2000, the IJ-828 has a suggested retail price of $129.
