The DSD1700 is designed using Burr-Brown's high performance audio DAC technology under technical consultation by Sony Corporation for DSD technology. The device will directly convert 1-bit, 2.8224MHz digitally sampled data (the basic technology of Super Audio CD) to an analog signal.

The DSD1700 is a single-channel DAC that will consist of a double differential analog FIR (Finite Impulse Response) filter. It will feature a wide frequency range up to 100kHz and more than 110dB signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).

The DSD1700 will directly interface to a DSD decoder and operate on a system clock of 11.2896MHz (256fs). The device will be packaged in a small 28-lead SSOP and operate on a single +5V power supply.

The DSD1700 is targeted to be priced at $9.95 in 1,000 piece quantities, with samples available later this year.
