InterVideo's WinDVD 4 Delivers All New 24-BIT/96KHZ Support at VTF

In Step With The 24-Bit Revolution, InterVideo's WinDVD Player And VIA's Envy Line of 24-bit Audio Controllers Is Set To Usher In A New Era Of Audio On The PC At This Leading Technology Showcase

FREMONT, Calif.-October 3, 2002 - VIA Technologies, Inc., a leading innovator and developer of silicon chip technologies and PC platform solutions, and InterVideo, a leading provider of digital video and audio multimedia software products, today jointly announced that InterVideo will support 24-bit content with 96kHz sampling rates in the latest version of WinDVD player, due for release at VIA Technology Forum 2002.

WinDVD software is used by millions to enable theater-quality DVD playback on the PC. Delivering the latest video and audio formats, InterVideo will be demonstrating its latest enhancement at VTF, supporting 24/96 content that will bring a new plateau of audio quality for a software DVD player. In order to demo this support, the WinDVD software will rely on VIA’s Envy line of controllers to provide 24-bit playback support.

"With this latest 24/96 compliant WinDVD player, InterVideo is again demonstrating that we are continually pushing the envelope of the Home Theatre experience," said Steve Ro, CEO and co-founder of InterVideo. "Now users can experience a whole new level of audio performance as close as possible to the original recording for a truly fantastic experience."

"With the VIA Envy line of controllers, PC solution providers have a powerful tool to deliver 24-bit content for super hi-fi performance," commented Steve Chen, Executive Assistant to the President, and Head of the VIA Audio Division. "As VIA enters its third year of making high end 24-bit audio controllers, the potential and excitement of 24/96 only grows."
