Pioneer Ships Combination DVD/CD Recordable Drive for Jukebox Archiving

DVD-R7322 Brings Genuine DVD Recordable Technology and Enhanced Performance to Mass Storage Applications

LONG BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 2002--Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc., the leader in recordable DVD technology, today announced the DVD-R7322, a DVD/CD recordable, re-recordable drive available as the next generation of DVD/CD recording for the existing DRM-7000, 720-disc DVD-R/RW jukebox.

Beginning today, customers can utilize features such as an enhanced DVD-Recording speed of 2X, new DVD-RW (re-recordable) capabilities and a slimmer, half-height form factor. In addition, the drive offers CD-R write capabilities, as well as DVD-ROM read support.

"The multiple format support of this next-generation drive provides new vertical opportunities for the DRM-7000 FlexLibrary(TM)," said Paul Meyhoefer, director of sales and marketing for the mass storage group at Pioneer Electronics (USA). "The DVD-R7322 is ideal for enhancing existing Pioneer jukebox applications, as well as providing the best-available features for new applications."

The DVD-R7322 will be available through the Pioneer authorized distribution network at a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $4,995. Combined with the new lower cost of its DVD-R and DVD-RW media, Pioneer has provided users with a cost-effective solution for a wide array of applications.

Pioneer is a member of the DVD Forum, the standards organization for DVD. The company supports the DVD Forum's DVD-R and DVD-RW formats. DVD-R is a write-once format that is compatible with most DVD Video players and DVD-ROM drives, and DVD-RW is a re-recordable format that allows users to record, erase and re-record DVD discs more than 1,000 times. As formats approved by the DVD-Forum, DVD-R and DVD-RW provide genuine DVD technology for optimal playback compatibility.
