New Wireless and Corded Headphones for Home Theater Become First JVC Products To Ship With SRS Technology |
| SANTA ANA, Calif., April 25
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SRS Labs, Inc. (Nasdaq: SRSL), a leading provider of audio,
voice and ASIC technology solutions, today announced that it has added yet another
significant consumer electronics company in Japan to its family of licensees. Victor
Company of Japan, Ltd. (``JVC'') has licensed SRS Headphone(TM) and SRS WOW(TM)
technologies for home theater headphone products to be first introduced in the Japanese
marketplace. This agreement marks the first use of SRS audio technologies by JVC, one of
the world's leading developers and manufacturers of sophisticated audio and video
products. ``Our development work and patents for audio technologies have provided us with a strong foothold in the high growth portable audio and headphone markets,'' said Hank Kato, director of Japan operations for SRS Labs. ``This new licensing agreement with JVC and the ongoing adoption of our technologies by other significant consumer electronics manufacturers continues to expand the SRS brand as a leading provider of advanced audio solutions.'' ``We selected SRS Labs' WOW and SRS Headphone technologies for our new products because they are well suited to meet our criteria for sound quality, performance and value, plus SRS has a strong brand name in the industry,'' said Mr. Shoji Matsuda, general manager, product development department, communication network business unit, AV & Multimedia Company at Victor Company of Japan, Limited (JVC). We look forward to working with SRS Labs to deliver the best headphone listening experience possible to consumers.`` Many people find listening to music for long periods of time over standard headphones fatiguing, but the patented SRS Headphone technology overcomes listener fatigue and creates a natural and rich audio listening experience. Based on the same psychoacoustic research as the core SRS 3D audio technology, SRS Headphone repositions sound from inside the listener's head to the space around the head. SRS Headphone is featured in JVC's new HP-SU700 home theater headphone product, which is available now in Japan for approximately US $54. JVC selected New Japan Radio Co, Ltd. (NJRC) NJM2190 SRS Headphone 3D surround processor analog chip for the implementation which features low operating voltage, low noise and low operating current. These features make the chip an ideal solution for stereo headphone or portable audio products. SRS WOW incorporates the 3D technique of SRS Headphone but also includes several other processes that further enhances headphone playback, including TruBass. TruBass is a patented psychoacoustic bass enhancement technology that creates the perception of dramatically increased bass performance in smaller speaker systems and headphones far beyond the physical capabilities of the speakers themselves. It is a dynamic technology that actively monitors the low-frequency content of an audio signal and optimizes the frequency and amplitude spectrum of the output signal to enhance bass perception within a pair of headphones. SRS WOW technology is featured in JVC's new HP-W150SU premium wireless headphone product, which is available now in Japan for approximately US $85. The HP-W150U utilizes NRJC's NJM2700 WOW audio processor analog chip integrated with the wireless transmission box, processing the audio signal before the infrared transmission to the wireless headphones on the listener's head.
