MP3.com Expands Retail Music Market Reach With Wurlitzer and Fun e-Business

Web-Enabled Wurlitzer Fun e-Jukeboxes Expected to Provide Retail Outlets With Access to Local Bands, Music Catalogs and More

SAN DIEGO, July 11 /PRNewswire/ -- The Internet's premier Music Service Provider, MP3.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: MPPP), today announced an agreement with Fun e-Business(TM) to provide taverns, restaurants and other retail establishments with access to local, regional and international digital artists and music catalogs available on MP3.com (www.mp3.com) via web-enabled Wurlitzer Fun e-Jukeboxes(TM).

Fun e-Business (www.fune-business.com) owns global distribution rights to the famous Wurlitzer brand, which has been synonymous with jukeboxes as early as 1856. The alliance with MP3.com attempts to integrate music access, management and e-commerce opportunities into each web-enabled Wurlitzer Jukebox that is placed in a retail establishment.

``This partnership with Fun e-Business represents new revenue opportunities for digital artists and MP3.com through the Retail Music Program,'' said Michael Robertson, chairman and chief executive officer of MP3.com. ``The alliance leverages our technology infrastructure and compensates content owners through the Payback for Playback Program. We are excited to be associated with the Wurlitzer brand name and feel that this relationship with Fun e-Business is a real opportunity to expand MP3.com's user base through this innovative, interactive application.''

Ed Bevilacqua is the chief executive officer at Fun e-Business. Bevilacqua, who calls the new Wurlitzer Fun e-Jukeboxes a true e-commerce platform, says that he hopes to install 20,000 of the units in the U.S. within the next three years.

``The web-enabled Wurlitzer Fun e-Jukebox creates a more enjoyable entertainment experience for people by providing them with more music choices in addition to new opportunities to purchase CDs, merchandise and even concert tickets through the MP3.com site,'' said Bevilacqua. ``Fun e-Business' partnership with MP3.com is a reflection of our objective of bringing the best Internet content to everyday people through our Wurlitzer Fun e-Box and other innovative products.''

``Through our agreement with Fun e-Business, we can support retailers with a complete music solution,'' remarked Bob Simril, vice president of retail music services at MP3.com. ``Restaurants, taverns and other retailers will hopefully have more access to musical content including digital artists in the surrounding area.

``MP3.com's Retail Music Division offers savings to retail establishments money on their current service offerings and provides their customers with a superior and customizable listening experience,'' added Simril. ``I encourage retailers interested in more information to visit www.mp3.com/retail.''
