New Drivers Support Surround Sound on the PC Without a Hardware Controller, Enhancing User's Experience |
| AUSTIN, Texas, July 10
/PRNewswire/ -- SigmaTel, Inc., an Austin-based, leading provider of high-performance
integrated circuits (ICs) for high-speed broadband communications, wireless and PC audio
solutions, announced today the creation of the first-ever, multi-channel WDM (Windows(TM)
Driver Model) host- audio driver for the PC, further establishing the company as a world
leader in audio solutions. The new driver enables four- and six-channel movie theater-
quality audio for PCs. SigmaTel's multi-channel WDM is the first driver capable of playing two-, four- and six-channel audio. The WDM driver format for audio is a requirement for obtaining the various Windows logos from WHQL (Windows Hardware Quality Labs).
