New WinCinema Suite From InterVideo Combines Best-In-Class Multimedia Software Products

Suite Delivers DVD, Digital VCR,DTV, MPEG Video Encoder, MP3Ripper/Player and Streaming Audio and Video in a Highly Integrated Fashion!

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2000-- InterVideo, Inc., the leading developer of PC video and audio solutions, today announced WinCinema(TM), its new, fully integrated all-software suite for PC-multimedia users. The suite will bring together all of InterVideo's applications in one package, providing unsurpassed quality and convenience for the optimum digital entertainment environment.

``Consumers throughout the world are demanding more and more powerful digital video and audio products to enhance their PC multimedia experience. What we've attempted to create is a tightly integrated suite of software that offers our customers the most complete and robust multimedia solution available,'' said Joe Monastiero, InterVideo vice president of sales and marketing. ``WinCinema will provide users a common look, feel and location to go to for the majority of their multimedia requirements.''

The highly customizable suite offers the following six modules, each featuring WinCinema's new common user interface design:

  • WinDVD -- The world's leading DVD software player from InterVideo continues to set the standard for digital video playback, supporting DVD, MPEG1, MPEG2, CD-Audio, VCD and SVCD playback. WinDVD now includes support for Dolby Digital Headphone(TM), Bookmarks, Zoom and Pan functions and the ability to change the user experience with customizable ``skins.'' InterVideo will release a skin development tool on its Web site in July.
  • WinDVR -- InterVideo's all-software digital VCR offers PC users consumer entertainment device functionality similar to that found in the popular TiVo and ReplayTV products. With WinDVR, users can record TV broadcasts to their PC's hard drive for later viewing, and it provides simultaneous recording and playback capability with time-shifting, ``PauseTV'' convenience. WinDVR works with current analog TV-tuner cards and is digital TV-tuner card-ready. It also features a new Internet-based iAccess Electronic Program Guide
    • (EPG) that lets users quickly find and schedule their favorite shows for recording.
    • WinDTV -- A software-only decoder for high-definition TV
    • (HDTV) on the PC. WinDTV decodes all 18 ATSC formats, including 720p and 1080i, and supports ATVEF embedded data streams, required for interactive TV experiences.
    • WinRip -- InterVideo's MP3 ripper/encoder/player will allow users to ``rip'' their favorite CDs to MP3 format, create playlists, change the look and feel of the product with new downloadable ``skins,'' and enhance the listening experience with plug-in DSP sound effects.
  • WinCoder -- InterVideo's software-only MPEG2 real-time encoder offers users the ability to capture DVD-quality video and audio in MPEG1 or MPEG2 format to their PC's hard drive. WinCoder's simple but powerful user interface lets users easily customize capture settings to optimize their videos for quality or storage size. Users will be able to manipulate their captured files with the MPEG/AVI editing module including with WinCoder.
  • WinStream -- This module in the WinCinema suite lets users play back video and audio files from the Internet and other remote sources. WinStream will support all of the most popular industry-standard streaming formats. WinStream will also include built-in Internet radio station control.

``InterVideo continues to set new benchmarks for the industry in the digital video and audio arena,'' stated Dan Vivoli, senior vice president of marketing of Nvidia. ``Their WinDVD software has performed exceptionally well with Nvidia graphics products and we are excited about reviewing the company's follow-on products included in WinCinema.''

``3dfx has had a very successful run using InterVideo's products with our Voodoo lineup,'' added Kirk Leitch, director of multimedia products for 3dfx Interactive® Inc. ``Everything we've seen thus far from our reviews of the WinCinema suite indicates that InterVideo has a product offering that sets the standard for quality, performance and features in advanced multimedia products.''

WinCinema will offer users one-stop shopping for virtually all of their digital video and audio requirements. End-users will no longer be required to navigate between and manage six unrelated applications working on often incompatible hardware peripherals. WinCinema modules allow users to seamlessly toggle from one application to the next with just the click of the mouse, creating a virtual multimedia ``launching pad'' within each product.

WinCinema users can also customize their software suite by first selecting and downloading trial versions of new InterVideo software modules or by upgrading to full products. Each module offers users a direct upgrade path to another. Product information, trial versions of the suites' modules, and full versions (priced from $29.95 to $49.95) will be available by visiting InterVideo's Web site at www.intervideo.com.
