decoder for the new DTS-ES Extended Surround(TM) digital audio standard featuring a
high-performance signal processing chipset and software developed by Analog Devices in
conjunction with DTS® and Denon. The new Melody(TM) decoder hardware consists of a 32-
bit SHARC® DSP and the industry's highest performance audio DAC, the AD1853. The software
developed for this programmable chipset decodes and post processes not only DTS-ES
Extended Surround (which includes both DTS-ES(TM) Discrete 6.1 and DTS ES Matrix 6.1), but
also DTS Neo:6(TM), Dolby® Digital and Dolby®Pro Logic®, THX? and THX Surround EX(TM)

DTS-ES Extended Surround is an enhancement to the DTS 5.1 channel decoder format, which adds a third discrete rear surround channel, enabling a more seamless rear surround audio effect. DTS-ES features six full-frequency discrete channels (left front, right front, center, left rear surround, right rear surround and surround back) and a low-frequency effects channel. Melody Decoder for 32-Bit Digital Audio The Analog Devices Melody DTS-ES Extended Surround decoder is based on the SHARC DSP and supports 32 to 4,096 kbps bit rates, 4:1 compression ratios and 8, 32, 44.1, 48, 96 and 192 kHz per channel sampling frequencies to deliver six full-bandwidth and one low-frequency effects channels. It features up to 50 MHz, 150 MFLOPS performance for 32/40-bit floating-point or 150 MOPS, 32- bit integer operation. The Melody DTS-ES decoder uses the industry's highest- performance audio DAC, the AD1853, with 192-kHz sampling rate, 120 dB SNR/DNR, -107 dB THD+N and 115 dB Stopband Attenuation-guaranteeing the highest quality audio signal on the market today. The Melody DTS-ES Extended Surround decoder and AD1853 DAC are released products and are currently available.
