FAQ: Unreal and Environmental Audio Extensions A lot of users have been having problems with Unreal and the Environmental Audio Extensions. To be honest, I am not sure if the problems are with peoples expectations, with individual system configurations, with Unreal or a combination of all, so I did some quantitative tests of my own. My comments and testing are using the latests Liveware version of the Sound Blaster Live! Drivers and the 216 Unreal patch to the full version that gives "Kick Ass Sound Blaster Live! support" and running the hardware accelerated version under glide on a 12 meg Creative Labs Voodoo 2 card. None of this has been verified by Creative Labs and is completely unofficial so don't bug them about it. All I can say is it works for me. 1. Change your Environments to "No effects" as noted in the following image.
2. In advanced audio options starting from the defaults change 3DHardware to YES 3. DO NOT turn off reverb in the advanced audio settings. I have seen a few comments that turning off reverb in the advanced audio setting makes the environmental audio extension work in Unreal. My testing shows the exact opposite. Here is what my setup looks like:
4. Play Unreal and enjoy it. Your environmental audio is at work. How Do I Know its Working? Fly By:
Vortex Rikers As Player Spawns.
Vortex Rikers Green Smoky Hall
NyLeve's Falls at one Level
Arrjigar Mine
Sacred Passage (Very Start)
