Sensaura
Sensauras roots
dates back to about 70 years ago when CRL (Central Research Laboratories) was founded as
the corporate research laboratories for EMI. Today Sensaura is mostly known for its 3D
sound and reverb engines. It's not the most famous 3D sound and reverb engine but
its the most widely used with over 30 million shipped products using it. Most of
these are never used for gaming but several of the top of the line cards use it including
Diamonds now cancelled MX400, VideoLogics SonicFury, Turtle Beachs Santa
Cruz, Hercules GameTheater XP and Terratecs Six Pack 5.1+. Two more recent well
known licensees are nVidia for its nForce chip and Microsoft for its Xbox, both identical
when it comes to the audio chip. The Sensaura technology will also be used in several
upcoming games for Playstation 2.
If you have a Sensaura based card and wonder what version of the
engine you got and what it supports (e.g MacroFX, ZoomFX, EAX 1.0, EAX 2.0 and/or I3DL2)
or just want to test them you should download the Player3D
or the Sensaura info tool from Sensauras website. The former also works to test
the 3D sound and reverb engine of any other non Sensaura card you may have. You can find a
lot more info about Sensaura and products using it reading the articles and reviews below
